Frequently Asked Questions
(FAQ)

Q:  Why were the 2006 cable pins recalled?
A:  If used incorrectly with the rounded part facing inward, the pins could be bumped while climbing, causing them to pop out of the cable.

Q:  How do I tell if my stand is included in the recall?
A:  The recall applies to treestand pins manufactured in 2006 only.  All of these stands will be stamped “TSR 06” on the blade of the stand.  If your treestand does not have TSR 06 stamped into the metal of the blade, it is not included in the recall.

Q:  I have a recalled stand.  How do I get my new pins?
A:  If you have a TSR 06 stand, please email service@olmanoutdoors.com or call 1-888-656-2606 and leave the following information:
- First and Last Name (spell them if leaving a phone message)
- Daytime Telephone Number
- Physical Address (Pins will be shipped UPS; please no P.O. boxes)
- The Number of TSR 06 stands you have
- How you heard about the recall

Q:  After leaving my information, how quickly will I receive my pins?
A:  If you are located in the Eastern or Central United States, you should receive your pins in 3-5 business days.  If you are in the Western United States, you should receive them in 7-10 business days.  Business days include Monday through Friday and exclude holidays.

Q.  I have pins that are older than 2006, but they look just like the pins that are recalled.  What’s the difference?
A:  The 2006 pins are similar in appearance to the previously manufactured pins, but they were not manufactured by TSR, so they are not involved in the voluntary recall.

Q:  How are the new locking pins different?
A:  The new locking pins have a wing nut attached that screws down when the pin is inserted, eliminating any possibility of it coming out.  The wing nut is attached to the pin itself with a small lanyard so you can’t lose it.

Q:  Did Ol’ Man go out of business?
A:  Yes, the previous owners of the company were located in Hattiesburg, MS.  They went out of business in 2005.  We purchased the company in 2006 and have been manufacturing Ol’ Man stands since then.

Q:  Are Ol’ Man treestands manufactured in China?
A:  Yes.  All of the new Ol’ Man stands adhere to the strictest TMA standards and guidelines.

Q:  Where can I order replacement parts and accessories for my Ol’ Man stand?
A:  If you do not have a dealer in your area, you can order replacement parts and accessories from Scott’s Outdoor Sports.  You can order online at www.scottsoutdoors.com or call them at 1-800-289-4953.  Their Customer Service department is open 8am-4pm, central time, Monday-Friday.  Ol’ Man does not sell direct to the public.

Q:  Can I purchase replacement parts or accessories for a ladder stand?
A:  Not at this time.  We have been manufacturing ladder stands since early 2007, and thus do not have any replacement parts or accessories available for our stands yet.  We do not have any parts or accessories for the ladder stands that were manufactured by the previous owners.

Q:  My stand is squeaky and noisy.  What can I do to fix it?
A:  Replacing the bushing kit usually helps.  You can order a bushing kit from Scott’s Outdoors by going to www.scottsoutdoors.com or calling 1-800-289-4953.  You can also grease your stand to eliminate squeaking.

Q:  I need replacement cables for a treestand older than 2005.  Are they available?
A:  No.  The only cables we have available are for the stands that we manufacture.  The 2006 cable kits will work with stands as old as 2005 only.  We do not make cable kits to work with stands we didn’t manufacture.

Q:  Will Ol’ Man still refurbish my stand if I send it in?
A:  No.  You can purchase a refurbishing kit and other parts and accessories from Scott’s Outdoors by going to www.scottsoutdoors.com or calling 1-800-289-4953.

Q:  I have a stand that was manufactured before 2006.  Is it still under warranty?
A:  No.  We only warranty the stands that we manufacture.  We cannot warranty stands that were manufactured by the previous owners.

Q:  Why can’t I reach anyone when I call Ol’ Man’s toll free telephone number?
A:  We do not have an operator to answer the telephone throughout the day.  Please leave a message and someone will return your call.  Calls are usually returned within 24 hours, excluding weekends and holidays.  Leaving 2 messages will only result in someone returning your call twice, so please be patient as we work to serve you.
